+ So a mass shooting happens and this is what big companies and the U.S. government think will solve the problem:
- Bag searches at theaters
- Metal detectors at theaters
- Not showing the new Batman movie
Things no one seems to want to talk about:
- Stricter gun laws.
I don’t get it.
stricter gun laws??? sounds like COMMUNIST talk to me
Stricter gun laws? Please tell me about how criminals follow the law.
Access to guns isn’t what makes people do stupid horrible shit. It’s deranged people who have no regard for human life that do stupid messed up shit like open fire in a movie theatre.
In the mainland of the UK, all pistols except muzzle loaders are banned. They have less than 6 shooting deaths per year.
I don’t want to ban guns. I like guns. Boom goes the pepsi bottle and all. But I do think that a man buying so many guns at once should have raised an alarm, considering we control how much NiteQyil people can buy.
It shouldn’t be easier for me to buy a weapon than it is for me to even volunteer in a school.
I don’t want gun bans. I just don’t think a few extra hoops is too much to ask.
EDIT: I also think we need to address underlying behavior that causes these things and provide more and better gun education and safety!
Everyone needs to recognize that all states differ on gun regulations. Here in CA a person can only purchase one handgun every 30 days. We also have a mandatory handgun safety test for one to be eligible to purchase one.
Concerning other firearms, even when buying multiple, one has to pay for a federal background check for each individual gun. Once the purchase has been made, the buyer has a ten day waiting period before being able to take it home.
So, before shoving your nose into something you don’t know a thing about, educate yourself.
Criminalizing guns means that only criminals own them.
See, here in PA, we walked into the store, looked at one, decided we liked it and took it home that night. We do an instant check and you can walk out the door. They say certain things should prevent gun purchases, but I know my convicted cousins have been able to legally obtain guns just as easily as myself.
You know, to get a permit to carry, all I have to do is go give the courthouse $20. To even volunteer in a school, I need three clearances and have to pay over $50 altogether, and they take weeks to obtain. It should be this way.
Like I said, I don’t want to criminalize guns, but we can’t excuse the fact that they are literally killing machines. I just think some more caution should be exercised in the way we approach selling, purchasing, and educating on guns.
Look. The Aurora shooter came in with a fucking assault rifle. Please tell me more about how citizens need assault rifles to defend themselves.
Numbers don’t lie. Across the world, countries with stricter gun laws have far fewer homicides. Whereas the US has the highest rate of homicide in the world, and 90 guns per 100 citizens. Gun control saves lives.

Well stricter gun laws wouldn’t really help. It’s not like you can get any of these guns if you’re crazy or a criminal....
