okay, so this is probably going to lose me followers but whatever. no one here seems to be saying anything even though there’s a lot of people going NUH UH all over livejournal, so here it is.

herp derp is ableist. it really is, okay. i literally flinch every time i see someone using it, which is ALL THE TIME. it’s all over my dash, all over my follow list - and it’s unavoidable. i don’t think i’ve come across anyone who’s never used it. but it’s just so offensive, it’s unbelievable.

to be fair, i think it’s just a case of not being aware this time round. i remember the first time someone pointed it out to me, and i was like, i thought it was a caveman thing /dies.

so yeah. if anyone reads this, please keep it in mind. it may sound funny but this meme originated from captioning pictures of people in wheelchairs, or people with lopsided expressions. not cool.
